| James Donoghue from Indonesian law firm, Soebagjo, Jatim, Djarot (in association with Blake Dawson which has an alliance with Asean Focus Group) has written a very informative article on the much anticipated new Indonesian Law on Minerals and Coal Mining. The new law effects a significant overhaul of the Contract of Work (CoW) and Kuasa Pertambangan (KP) system that has regulated Indonesian mining for the last 40 years. The CoW / KP system has been replaced by an area-based licensing system similar to those existing in other countries, including Australia. The full article is available by clicking here.
